I been thinking about joining the Marines since 2006. the only thing that was stopping me was school and the good job that I had. But I realized that any day I can leave this job and I wont have anything. So I decided in 2008 to join the Marines. I contacted a recruiter in Jersey city, NJ and talked about it with him. My recruiter told me if you like the job your in now you can do the Marine Reserve program. Where I just go one weekend every month and two weeks in the summer, and I get to be a Marine!
I liked that program because it will let me continue my education and at the same time keep my current job. I took the ASVAB test and I got 52 which is not really bad compared to others. I went to MEPS where they check you up and see if you qualify to join the Marines. They took blood sample and did all kind of medical checkups. I passed that, and now I am doing the DEP delayed entery program which is only for 2 weeks. Basically the recuriter take all the Pooles [future Marines] and we go running doing all type of excersies that we will do in bootcamp.
Next day I felt very sore. Almost all my muscles were sore since I didnt work out for a while. Now I am getting ready for bootcamp by working out hard one day and the next day I just run. I meet the minumum requirment which is 2 pull ups, 44 crunches in 2 minutes, and 1.5 mile run in 13:30 minutes.
MY practice Inital stengh test was: 75 Crunches in 2 minutes, 2 dead hang pullups, and 1.5 mile run in 13:24 minutes.
